Doctoral Student Heidi Tuason Awarded the 2014-15 Patrick and Lily Okura Research Grant on Asian Pacific American Mental Health

Congratulations to DrPH Student Heidi Tuason who received the 2014-15 Patrick and Lily Okura Research Grant on Asian Pacific American Mental Health award of $4,000 for her research proposal on The Kamalayan Project: Freeing Unspoken Voices of Mental (Un)Wellness in the Filipino Community"!

Tuason was awarded the research fellowship through the Asian American Studies Center to explore mental health stigma in the Filipino community through digital storytelling. She hopes to partner with faculty in both the Asian American Studies and CHS departments in the development of the project, and is looking forward to sharing the results of this fellowship and the summer FLAS fellowship in the Philippines after completion.
