  • CHS 212: Advanced Social Research Methods in Health
  • CHS 213: Research in Community and Patient Health Education
  • Biostatistics 406: Applied Multivariate Biostatistics
  • A broad public health course (PH 150 or equivalent), selected in consultation with advisor


Minimum of 20 units selected in consultation with advisor to meet the degree requirement of completing a minimum of 60 units.

Option 1:

  • Major Research Report
  • Department Comprehensive Exam, taken during the Fall or Spring Quarter of a student's second year. Students have two attempts to pass the Masters Comprehensive Exam. The exam tests students' competence in the basic knowledge and skills provided in the degree curriculum, enabling students to demonstrate that they meet the department's competencies for the MS Degree.
