The U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics reports over 70% of jobs are obtained through professional relationships. However, the buzz word "professional networking" can often seem like an ambiguous, daunting term which can cause immediate dread or avoid avoidance of the concept altogether. The good news is that professional networking can be a robust, learning experience that is reciprocal for both parties when executed strategically.

In this workshop, students will learn practical steps to demystify professional relationship building, specifically focusing on understanding:
• the purposes and goals of professional relationship building
• different types of professional relationship building (some are even fun!)
• strategies for expanding and nurturing one’s professional relationships
• strategies for leveraging one's strengths to evaluate potential internship, job or collaborative opportunities
